iSoftstone Review Summary
If you take an interest in the work of a web search evaluator, iSoftstone is one of the few companies you would want to check out and apply to. Web search evaluation involves assessing if the web search results are related and relevant to the user’s web search query. For this venture, let this iSoftstone review teach you the important details toconsider.
Tianwen Liu founded the company in 2001. Initially, it served Chinese clients and ultimately expanded business all over the world. Now, iSoftstone has over 90 offices in 43 cities. It also has 26 delivery centers worldwide.
If you have read other literature about iSoftstone, you probably already know that the delivery model it implements in providing its global IT consulting and outsourcing services uses the manpower of people who work from home.
IT consulting and related services are not only for organizations in the fields of computer and technology. From Figure 1, you can see that iSoftstone has been providing services and products to just about every field and industry like banking, healthcare, communications, energy and transportation.
Thus, if you are seeking to be part of this work-at-home workforce, it is tempting to be one of iSoftstone’s over 60,000 employees. There are issues, however, which you must consider before you can attain this career goal. These issues include if you are qualified to be a part of iSoftstone and if there are even any opportunities available.
Different Job Offers
The company is like Appen that hires search engine evaluators and online ads evaluators. Yet, it also hires qualified independent contractors to do data entry, transcription, translation and proofreading.
Each of these jobs will have its own set of requirements, skills, and even work schedule. Yet, since iSoftstone offers a job you can do from home, you need to have a working computer with a reliable internet connection.
Working from home doing web search evaluation, transcription or proofreading is also not as easy as others might think. It surely has its own perks, like not needing to dress up for work and commute to and from the office, but it still requires patience, optimism and some technical adeptness especially when the internet suddenly slows down or when your computer acts out.
How To Apply
There are two possible websites for you to check out. One is the China-based corporate HQ, http://www.isoftstone.com/en/. The Careers Page of this site, however, is in Chinese.
If this off puts you, you may head over to its North American website, https://www.isoftstoneinc.com/. There is also a Careers page here, but as of time of writing, the only available positions are Title Account Manager (US-NY-New York), Sr. Software Development Engineer (US-NY-New York) and Sr. Java Software Development Engineer (US-WA-Kirkland). These jobs are most probably office-based.
You should not stop your job search at this point. As an internet-based worker, you need to realize how to make the most out of online resources to find what you need and want.
From this post, you'll read that iSoftstone posts job ads on other job portals. From the Figure 2 of this post, they posted the iSoftstone job ad in ph.jooble.org so I headed over there to see any available work position.
I used “isoftstone” for my query and it turned out to have zero results. I tried searching on Google instead with the keyword/key phrase “isoftstone jobs.” Figure 2 shows the Google search results.
The top position in my Google search is Teemwork.ai when I searched for iSoftstone jobs. I did more reading and found in many reviews and internet posts that Teemwork is now the crowdsourcing platform of iSoftstone.
Thus, I went back to the ph.jooble.org portal again and entered “teemwork.” Figure 4 shows there are 2 job posts for my query.
The search engine evaluator - Philippines is an old post (dated 06/25/2019), so let us focus on the newer post for online ad evaluator – Philippines with a posted date of 03/08/2020.
You can read here that Teemwork.ai searches for online ad evaluators who will determine the content accuracy and the quality of online ads.
See Figure 4 for the job details.
It is a non-technical job, but the company offers training for the position. The required qualifications (aside from the mentioned computer and internet connection above) for the job include fluency in English, high awareness of modern culture, minimum 18 years of age and proficiency in using web/computer apps. Note the permanent residency in the Philippines. Since this is a job specifically offered for those from the Philippines, the position specifically requires it. This is something you should also note when looking at iSoftstone job positions. The job ad will specifically include residency in a particular country so it means you would not qualify to every job position that the company offers.
When you click on the Apply button, it will take you to a web page where there is another Apply button to click where you must create your profile. There are actually 4 steps to complete.
In Step 1, you will type your first name, middle name and last name. You should also provide your email address and login. Step 2 involves supplying your phone and complete address. You also need to tell if you are a US permanent resident and your country of nationality. You should indicate the languages you speak, your oral and written proficiency, your age, your computer and mobile OS. You may upload your resume at this point.
For Step 3, pick an option on how you have heard about iSoftstone. Step 4 will ask about your Live Microsoft ID. When you hit the Submit button, you will see a new page where you must enter a Payoneer Account because this is where you will receive your potential earning.
I went through all these steps above because I want to confirm if iSoftstone and Teemwork are now the same. I think they are since the jooble.org job ad took me to the teemwork.ai dashboard.
Thus, I also checked out the Google search result and clicked teemwork.ai. Here, you may refine your search through specific keywords, category, language and country. I viewed all open job positions. See Figure 5.
You can see that the job ad on jooble.org that I applied to is also on this partial list.
From the iSoftstone job ads I have seen so far, the crucial information that I did not find is about the pay rate. You could only read about how much the company pays to independent contractors from third party reviews and testimonials. According to those who have received payment after working for iSoftstone, a search engine evaluator and a researcher may earn $13/hour while a data collector could get about $20/hour. Payment mode, as you have read above from the application process, is through Payoneer.
According to the screenshot in Figure 4, for the online ad evaluator – Philippines job, the work schedule you will have is flexible. You need only to put 10 - 25 hours a week for this independent contractor employment. Just like the skills and qualifications, it is also possible that each job position that iSoftstone offers will have its specific work schedule.
Benefits / Bonus/ Increase/ Training Provided
Figure 4 also shows that you could receive training for the job, if they hire you.
I think I would give considerable time applying for an available job at iSoftstone. However, I will not consider it as my main online job since there are reports about low paying projects and lack of work assignments. I will only consider iSoftstone as a supplementary opportunity to other more productive jobs online.
