How To Start A Weight Loss Blog

The first step is coming up with an idea for your blog. What are the main topics that people are interested in when it comes to weight loss?

Do they want recipes? Is it a diet blog about keto, paleo, or Dukan? Is it about clean eating?

Will you be catering weight loss for middle-aged women? Will you be helping people looking for fast solutions for their belly fats?

Or maybe it’s about juices? Yoga for weight loss?

Write down all of these ideas and see which one meets your expertise or passion.

Sticking on what you can do best will not only give you more credibility but will also make everything a breeze when it comes to creating content.

Should I Blog About My Weight Loss?

This is another way to approach it! The world is a tough place, and sometimes it can be hard to find the motivation to keep going. We all want to feel good about ourselves and our bodies, but we often don't know where or how to start.

Starting your own weight loss blog is an excellent way of taking control over your health and wellness.

Having a blog allows you to document your journey with others who are struggling with their weight as well. You have someone else there who understands what you're going through because they're in the same boat, too.

Plus, this site provides you with some accountability. Blogging about your weight-loss journey will help motivate you when you need that extra push.

If it's really something worth reading, write about it from personal experience first hand so readers can relate better.

Share some of your own struggles while trying out new things like eating healthy or working out at home. Readers love seeing real people share their experiences.

What To Include In Your Blog

If you will not be blogging about your weight loss journey, the most ideal situation is to define a target audience.

Create a person you would like to help. Read this example target audience profile:

"I once knew a man who was morbidly obese. The only thing he wanted in life is to be thin enough that his doctor would give him the thumbs up and say, “Hey buddy! You're skinny now!” but alas it never happened.

All because no matter how hard this guy, Ralph, tried, even if he ate healthy or worked out at least an hour each day, nothing ever seemed to work for him. The pounds just stuck like rice on paper glue!"

What do you think people feel when they have been struggling with weight loss? They probably get very frustrated sometimes, right? Let's put all of their frustrations on a list.

One by one, what are Ralph’s problems when it comes to weight loss?

Is he eating the “wrong” way? Can you maybe help him eat in a way that will help boost his weight loss instead of hinder it?

Are you a fitness trainer that can maybe create daily video workouts for Ralph so he can take it one day at a time?

Define everything about Ralph. His problems, his pains...

And your job? Provide the solutions one by one through your content.

Do Weight Loss Blogs Make Money?

There are many ways to monetize a weight loss blog, but the most common way for beginners is through affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing means that you promote other people's products and services on your site, in exchange for earning some of their profits.

For example, if your blog teaches working out at home, then you can consider to teach your viewers how to set up a gym at home.

Pointing them to Amazon for gym equipments (Amazon affiliate marketing) will make you earn commissions on whatever your readers end up buying, even if they are not related to the products you are promoting, such as a car seat.

If you Google for “weight loss app affiliate programs,” you’ll be surprised about how many weight loss programs there are. Most of them are all free to promote. But of course, it is always good to only promote stuff you believe in.

Should I Start A Weight Loss Instagram Account?

There are many ways to increase the popularity of your blog and one way is by using social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

However, you have a lot less control over these sites than on your own blog, which can be set up however you like it. So when starting out, focus on building your blog.

Conclusion

Starting a weight loss blog involves many factors to consider, including whether or not you want to share your personal story with the world, and what type of content will resonate most with your target audience.
